This sterling silver necklace features the symbols for an ancient formula that alchemists used in the middle ages to encode their experiments. In the secret mystico-scientific labs of the alchemists, masters taught that if some holy agent could be discovered, one could transmute base metals into gold, heal the sick and revive the dead. To prevent their discoveries from falling into greedy hands, alchemists recorded all their experiments in symbols that denoted the metals, chemicals, and elements they used. This necklace was crafted by hand out of sterling silver in a small studio in Nepal. The gemstones are semi-precious and form a rich palette of color including red faceted rectangle garnet, green faceted oval peridot, purple amethyst, and yellow citrine.
A story card accompanies each piece which tells the story of the origins of alchemy and helps make a lovely gift.
