This necklace is made from hammered sterling silver and is inlaid with ancient Roman glass and semiprecious stones including: sodalite (blue), onyx (black) and garnet (red). Cultured white pearl beads also dangle from the pendant and are strung on a sterling silver chain. The Roman glass comes from an archaeological dig in Israel, found in the ruins where ancient Roman cities once stood. The glass is crushed and mixed with a resin to give it a rough texture, then inlaid like a paste, much the same way ancient mosaics were made. Each piece includes a story card about Roman glass. The 18-inch chain is oxidized to match the pendant and ends in a sturdy lobster claw clasp.
