Attilio Ghisolfi was a small producer of excellent wines in Montforte d'Alba, a village of Barolo. It is now Gianmarco, the son of Attilio, who makes the wine. He went to Oenologie School and has brought modern techniques to make better wines. Gianmarco calls Carlin a 'vino di fantasia'. It is a blend of 60-percent Nebbiolo/40-percent Freisa, tastes like strawberries, and is a light varietal which can warm you up on a cold day. Only 4,000 bottles of this wine are made--take advantage of this special offer.
Wine characteristics include a deep violet color; aromas of red berries, strawberries, and kirsch; and a medium body with great fruit sensations. Velvety, fine tannins and a very long finish on fruit enhance the wine, which can be cellared for 4 to 5 years. It is ideal with red meats, pork, or cheeses, or as an aperitif.
