Enhance your decor with the old-world charm of this stunningly beautiful Tabriz rug.
This artfully woven rug was created in the ancient Iranian city of Tabriz. Capital of the northwestern province of Azerbaijan, Tabriz has for centuries enjoyed a great reputation as a center of Oriental culture. Over the centuries Tabriz has developed from a naturally favored oasis at the foot of the volcano Sahand, to today's commercial center. Since the 11th century it has been one of the most important rug-weaving centers in the world. Tabriz Persian rugs are among the most beautiful and legendary carpets ever built.
This rug is the creation of one of Tabriz's most celebrated rugweavers. The pile consists of 'kurk' wool, the most luxurious and expensive wool used in Persian rugs. It is taken from very young sheep and only the wool from the neck area is used. The silk flowers add an extra touch of luxury to this fine piece. The center field of the rug is perfectly balanced, with an intricate design of vines, tendrils and flowers. The ivory background is complemented by a laser-straight peach border and accents of grey, gold, green, blue, navy, coral, and ivory.
