Accentuate your home with the beauty of this handcrafted Vietnamese lacquer vase. Whether used for dried or fresh flowers, or simply as decoration, this piece is certain to get noticed.
Ngoc Phuong and her family in Northern Vietnam handcraft each vase. The finished product involves about a 30-40 day process. It begins by shaping the wood and then sanding it by hand until perfectly smooth. In order for each vase to have that rich colorful appearance, there are no less than seven coats of lacquer applied to every vase. After each coat, the vase sits in a cool cellar environment for about four days. The final step is to handpaint the colors on every vase. Due to the thick lacquer finish inside each vase, these pieces can hold water safely.
We ensure that the crafts makers of these lacquer vases are paid fairly and work in safe conditions. The purchase of this vase will help artisans provide food and shelter to their communities as well as generate money to put their children through school.
