This charming Navajo sandpainting tells the story of the sacred ceremony called the 'Shooting Way Chant.'

This ancient ritual takes place over four days and five nights. The painting depicts two tribespeople wearing eagle feather headdresses on either side of a blooming corn plant. The rich tones of the painting are created by crushing different colored sandstones and applying the sand using adhesive. This unique piece was created by Robert and Tina Steven, full blooded Navajos from the Corn Fields, Arizona area. They incorporate the teachings of Robert's grandfather, a Navajo medicine man, when designing these beautiful works. A story on the reverse side explains the symbolism used in the painting.
