Tooled leather furniture is an art from the north of Peru, particularly from the region of Cajamarca. The leather is dried, tanned, worked by hand with dyes, lacquered, and waxed; this process keeps and treats the leather, leaving it smooth and soft.
Since meeting Worldstock in May 2002, this family-based workshop hired 20-50 additional workers to fully realize the potential of this, their first export market. Artisans with a 21st century opportunity are effective employment creators!
